Artists-authors now have the right to ongoing professional education. This has been official since the adoption of an amendment by the Senate on December 15, 2011. Everyone at ArtFx Training, a professional digital images instructional program, rejoiced at this news.

The purpose of the new legislation

Even though professional development is a national, life-long obligation, the grand majority of artists and authors, who are typical paid in royalties, have not, until now, had any financial support for this training and so were unable to benefit from it. This form of legal ‘gap’ was bridged with the adoption of a new amendment which will take effect July 1, 2012. The new system of support will be financed by a contribution of writers and broadcasters, and the willing participation of copyright societies. L’AFDAS (Training insurance funds for cultural, communication, and entertainment sectors) has been designated as the collector of the funds.

An essential tool in the digital age

The needs are vast for professionals adapting their talents to new, notably digital, technology, for photographers and other image professionals. Since their arrivals, the pixel, the CCD sensor, and the LCD screen have not stopped evolving and it is vital that the professionals remain in contact with their latest advancements.
