Since 2004, artists from around the world have been coming to present their works of art under the sun for the occasion of a unique event: Syro d’Arts, Exposition Internationale Plein Ciel.
This annual meeting takes place in a small mountain village, situated in the Valley of Florival in Alsace: Lautenbach Zell, an essential place for art. Syro d’Arts was founded by a couple of passionate artists: Roland et Sylvie Issenlor. Concious of the needs within the art world, they wanted to voluntarily help and respond to them. To do this, they decided to annual offer an uncommon space where people could display their work. Also, la Fondation Syro d’Arts, based on a unique concept, brings together recognized artists from around the world.
This exhibition, which promotes cultural and artistic diversity, offers something unique and original to its visitors: gardens to cross, the sun flooding sculptures and other works, shaded terraces where people can discover different paintings…… A real outdoor exploration, a real change from the eternal walls of museums.
Among the artists who were selected to participate this year, we find
Roland Dinckel and Gilbert Kiner.
Roland Dinckel, a journalist by trade, shows off his photos, which have the common denominator of being works of color.
I asked him how he had been selected to participate in this artistic adventure…..to this, he responded:
«It was during the last RDV Image, organized at the Palais des Congrès in Strasbourg, where I was exhibiting, that Roland Issenlor invited me to participate in this Syro d’art.
I knew that internationally recognized artists participated in this and I asked him about the theme so I could choose appropriate works to fit into this event, which welcomes a number of artists and visitors alike.
He told me that the color, very simply, of my photos was a theme. It’s true that my photos in Strasbourg where highlighting the saturated exuberance of African and Asian ambiences, but to present them for the Syro d’art……and then I told myself that he was right a million times overs. Why justify something just to fit within a theme when the emotion that one can get from an eggplant or a nondistinct part of the body is already regal! Finding a pretext to present photography, isn’t that, in fact, a justification, a guide without which the artist would be devoid of meaning?
So, here I am, with colorful photos, and ‘raw’ apples, for you to see at Lautenbach-Zell…(Actually, since there isn’t any Apple support, here’s a prune, instead….)»
Gilbert Kiner is also presenting his photography work, but his are black and whites with a significant amount of work done on stark contrasts and graphic details with Icelandic plains as the reoccuring subject. In order to give you some references around this idea, here are several photos from the 3ème RDV Image de Strasbourg (2013), from the same series «De roches et de lumières»…
«Iceland, materials drawn by a brush of light. A world of rocks, harmony of lines and forms. Movements, changes, light, growth and alteration of the soul of nature. I am bringing these landscapes into the artistic world of abstraction to make them my own.» – Gilbert Kiner.
