Best student video game award for ALASKA at Pégases 2023
On Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Jeu Vidéo hosted the gala evening for the 4th edition of the Pégases awards, an annual event that recognizes the best video games made in the previous year.
Of the 29 video games selected for the competition, Alaska won the trophy for Best Student Video Game, presented in person by Anne Devouassoux, President of the Syndicat National du Jeu Vidéo. Designed by 10 ARTFX students, Alaska stood out from a strong field to win this prestigious award. The ceremony took place in Paris, where the winners were announced in front of an audience of video game professionals and enthusiasts, as well as ministers Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Digital Transition, and Rima Abdul Malak, Minister for Culture.
“We are extremely proud to see the talent and commitment of our students and teaching teams recognized with this prestigious award. Congratulations to the Alaska team for their hard work and creativity, which have resulted in a beautiful video game. This success is a source of pride for our school, and encourages us to pursue our mission of training the creators of tomorrow” Gilbert Kiner, President of ARTFX.
The Pegasus winners are chosen by the members of the Academy of Video Game Arts and Techniques, which numbers over 1,500 academicians. Voting is by secret ballot in two rounds, ensuring the integrity of the selection process.
“This magnificent success confirms the quality of our training courses dedicated to video games on our Montpellier campus. This award adds to our success last year when our students won the VES, the highest American distinction in the special effects sector. Alaska’s award at Pegasus 2023 confirms ARTFX’s position as a benchmark institution for training in the cultural and creative industries.” Simon Vanesse, ARTFX Managing Director.
